God uses the term separation anxiety because the true reasons for why we feed our cynicism and skepticism are:

  1. We are afraid of the truth of what we really feel for God. That feeling is the statement: ‘I can’t live without you.” So one desperately holds on to anything to keep ourselves in denial.

    God’s reassurance:

    Be not afraid.
    I Am never leaving you.
My love will always see us through.
  2. We are insecure that we will not be enough for God.

    God’s reassurance:

I love you for who I Am.
I Am never letting go of you.
    You are irreplaceable.

Question: Can I make you happy for the rest of your life?

    God’s answer:

    I don’t matter.
My love for you is immeasurable

The X and Y factors:

Our capability to be devoted to God requires completing two major feats, which can be summarized by the statement: To be for God and to be with God. This is the stuff that saints are made of.

To be for God is to pledge our allegiance to God. God amplifies an area of sin to the point where we are so tempted to turn our back from goodness and succumb to evil. When we turn to God and refuse the lure of evil –

we then have the X factor. It is also the time one understands what salvation means --- repentance is a pre-requisite to salvation and that only God alone can remove your sin.

God described the X factor as:

do or die attitude
You do not side with the enemy nor can the enemy win you over (no matter how tempting it may be).

An example would be having a long-held anger towards a person. This is the sin of having an unforgiving heart. God will fuel this anger, creating an almost unbearable situation where your anger towards this person will totally consume you that you are almost tempted to act on that anger. God is not doing this to test you but to make you feel what anger can do and you turn to God to remove the anger from your heart, which He does. It is at this time that you choose to forgive. This is when you receive the X factor.

Question: Why do you call this the X-factor?

God’s answer:

X-Factor
You have what it takes to be with Me.

Question: Why is this important?

God’s answer:

Your life depends on it

Meaning: Sin is what causes us to die. When we pledge our allegiance to God, we are committing ourselves to never go to the “dark side”.

To be with God is to follow the way of God. As God said: “You may be for Me but are you with Me.” God calls this the Y factor.
